![New on the RDG blog — Ground-Truthing Carbon: Setting Protocols for the Healthy Soils Initiative
Before we can understand how much carbon our landscapes store, we need shared ways to measure it. This year, we joined partners across Massachusetts — @woodwellclimateresearchcenter, @harvard.forest, @bscgroupconsulting, @massaudubon, @thetrustees and @savebuzzardsbay — to help shape new soil-carbon sampling protocols for the Healthy Soils Initiative.
From mapping potential sites to field trainings at Woodwell Climate Research Center and Arcadia Wildlife Sanctuary, our team has been supporting the development of methods that will guide statewide carbon research for years to come.
This work connects mapping, modeling, and hands-on field practice — and reflects our commitment to site-specific design, collaboration, and ecological literacy.
